Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to create and deliver your personalized storybooks:

• Personal Information: Your name, email address, and shipping address (for physical orders).
• Children's Information: Your child's name, birthday, gender, interests, and optionally uploaded photos. This information is used exclusively to personalize their storybook.
• Payment Information: Payment processing is handled securely by Whop. We do not store your credit card details on our servers.
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our website, including pages visited, time spent, and device information, to help us improve our service.

How We Use Your Information

• To create personalized storybooks featuring your child as the hero of their story.
• To process your orders and deliver digital and physical products.
• To send order confirmations, delivery updates, and important service communications via email.
• To improve our service, content quality, and user experience.

Children's Privacy & COPPA Compliance

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. StoryCrest complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

• We collect children's information (name, birthday, gender, interests, and photos) only for the purpose of creating their personalized storybook.
• We never share, sell, or rent children's personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
• Parents and guardians have full control over their children's data and can request access, modification, or deletion at any time.
• Children's photos you upload are kept in private, access-controlled storage and used only to illustrate the book. We delete the original photos 90 days after the book is finished, and 14 days after an unfinished order or saved story expires. If you are a Story Club member, we keep them while your membership is active and delete them 30 days after it ends. The finished illustrations stay as part of the book. You can ask us to delete everything sooner at any time.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above:

• Account and order details: Your name, email address, shipping address and order history are kept so we can deliver, reprint or replace your book and answer questions about your order. We delete them when you ask us to.
• Your finished books: The illustrations, book files and audio we create for your order are kept so you can come back to your book and order reprints. We delete them when you ask us to.
• Children's photos: Original photos are deleted on the schedule in the Children's Privacy section above, usually 90 days after the book is finished.
• Unfinished stories: If you save a story without ordering, we keep its details so you can pick it up again, and its photos are deleted as described above. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
• Usage data: Analytics and advertising tools keep usage data for the periods set out in each provider's own privacy policy.

Data Storage & Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

• Authentication & Data: Firebase is used for user authentication and data storage with industry-standard security practices.
• Media Storage: Uploaded photos are kept in a private, access-controlled Cloudflare R2 store. They are never made public and are only sent to the services that draw the illustrations. Finished illustrations and PDF files are stored on Cloudflare R2.
• All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed to protect your information.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate StoryCrest. Each has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information:

• Whop — Secure payment processing for all orders.
• Resend — Email delivery for order confirmations and communications.
• Google Firebase & Google Cloud — Website hosting, sign-in and secure storage of your account and order details.
• Cloudflare R2 — Private storage for uploaded photos, finished illustrations and PDF files.
• Google Gemini — AI-powered story and illustration generation.
• OpenAI — Illustration generation and audiobook narration.
• Alibaba Cloud (DashScope) — Illustration generation, using its international service.
• Kie.ai — Illustration generation.
• Lulu — Print-on-demand fulfillment for physical storybook orders.

Using StoryCrest in ChatGPT

If you design a book with the StoryCrest app in ChatGPT:

• We receive only what is needed to make your cover: your child's name, the details you choose to share (such as birthday, interests, the occasion and story ideas) and the art style you pick. We do not receive or keep your ChatGPT conversation.
• Your child's photo is sent to us only after you tick the consent box on the cover card. It is kept in private storage and used only to draw the cover and, if you order, the book.
• If you don't order, your photo and the details you shared are deleted within two days. If you do order, they are kept and deleted like any other order, as described above.
• To prevent misuse, we keep a coded version of the anonymous ID that ChatGPT gives us for up to two days, to limit how many covers can be made.
• Orders placed from ChatGPT are for printed books only. You check out on storycrestbooks.com, and payment is handled by Whop.

Cookies & Tracking

We use the following cookies and tracking technologies:

• Authentication Cookies: Essential cookies to keep you signed in and manage your session securely.
• Analytics Pixels (Optional): We may use tracking pixels from Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, and Google to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and improve our marketing. These are used in accordance with each platform's privacy policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you and your children.
• Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Delete your account and all associated data, including your children's information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through email notification. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
